Excellent shelter and firewood species. Large blue-green juvenile foliage matures to longer, darker leaves. Very fast growth rate. White flowers Jan- March. Coppices, but may be unreliable.
Grows well in exposed, windy situations. Salt, frost and snow tolerant. Also tolerates dry and wet soils but not to the extreme.
