Dacrycarpus dacrydioides

Our tallest native tree. Grows best in moist or swampy sites. Slower growing than most other natives. The trunk is often buttressed. The bark of young trees is a smooth gray, then as the tree matures and gets old the bark begins to flake and fall off.
