Wide-spreading, rounded head, moderate growth rate. Juglans regia is an excellent choice for planting in paddocks, producing easy-to-crack walnuts during the autumn months, usually around fifteen years from planting. It prefers a well-drained site in full sun. Avoid clay or heavily compacted soils. During the late spring to early summer, Juglans regia produces yellow-green catkins which serve as a source of pollen for bees. Although Juglans regia is self-fertile, it can produce better crops when planted with another Juglans regia cultivar.
